The firm was founded in the early 1980's by principals Don Steier and Larry Guzin. Their relationship began years prior, in a strong personal friendship that grew during their days together in high school, university and beyond.
After law school in the early 1970's they began their legal careers in the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office and the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. As public prosecutors they honed their legal skills by trying hundreds of cases to verdict before trial juries in Southern California.
In 1984 they decided to join together in the private practice of law, specializing in representing clients in personal injury and accident claims, business litigation and criminal defense cases.
*Guzin & Steier recently won a wrongful death case in Starr County, Texas, where a jury awarded $80-million against Chrysler Corporation arising out of a vehicle fuel fire, the largest compensatory personal injury verdict in U.S. history.

Don Steier
Don Steier was born in Los Angeles, California in 1945. He attended public school and is a graduate of John Marshall High School. Thereafter he graduated from U.C.L.A. with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. In 1973 he graduated with a Juris Doctor from Loyola University of Los Angeles School of Law. At law school he founded and was the first President of the International Law Society. After admission to the State Bar of California he served as a prosecutor with the Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney. He is past President of the Criminal Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association and is the founder and President of the District Attorney Alumni Association. He is married to Felice Webster and has two children, Lauren and Alan.
Larry Guzin
Larry Guzin was born in Los Angeles, California in 1946. He attended public school and is a graduate of John Marshall High School. Thereafter he graduated from U.C.L.A. with a Bachelor's degree in English. In 1972 he graduated with a Juris Doctor from U.C.L.A. School of Law. During law school he served as an assistant to the Attorney General of American Samoa in Pago Pago. After admission to the State Bar of California he served as a prosecutor with the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, where he was Supervisor of Central Trials, Supervisor of the West Los Angeles Branch Office and the Chief of the Central Criminal Operations Division. He is rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubble, the highest possible attorney competence and ethics ratings. His avocation is travel to India and the Nepal Himalayas, where he has trekked to the base of Mount Everest several times.
